Disinfection
Peace of mind for well and lake water
Ultraviolet light neutralizes bacteria, viruses and cysts without chemicals, taste or odour.

Is UV right for you?
If your home or cottage draws from a private well, lake or river, UV disinfection is one of the most reliable ways to protect your family. We recommend regular bacteria testing through a certified lab alongside treatment.
Why UV is the go-to for private water
Proven protection
Ultraviolet light disrupts the DNA of bacteria, viruses and cysts such as E. coli and Giardia so they cannot reproduce.
No chemicals
Nothing is added to your water, so there is no taste, odour or by-products.
Low maintenance
Replace the lamp once a year and clean the quartz sleeve. That is it.
Getting the most from UV
UV works best on clear water. Hardness, iron and sediment can coat the sleeve and block the light, so we usually pair UV with a sediment filter and, where needed, a softener or iron filter ahead of it.
Test your well regularly
Health authorities recommend testing private wells for bacteria several times a year, especially in spring, after heavy rain or flooding, and whenever the taste, colour or smell changes. In Ontario, free well water bacteria testing is available through Public Health Ontario. Your local Water Depot can explain the results and recommend treatment.
Shock chlorination
If a test comes back positive, a shock chlorination of the well and plumbing may be needed before a UV system is installed. Our team can guide you through the process.
